later but not latest

In research on campus, we connect one plant while another is running, for greater throughput. That requires solenoid valves, which are supported by, but not included with, the basic model. The valves are easy for users to add, though, and having done it yourself will be useful if you have to replace one. Switching valves will be installed in the deluxe model, along with valves that work with mass flowmeters to mix gases. Either final version will probably have indicator lights to tell you if a valve has burned out, even though that hasn’t actually happened yet.

The photo was taking is association with a test of switching between channels (hydrogen generators in series with water traps standing in for plants), in my basement lab at home. I’ve since decided that one hydrogen generator per PI is enough, even with the switching-between-plants option, mainly to keep calibration as simple as possible.
