Host-computer Compatibility Test
To use a PI, you need a compatible host computer, which you must test before you can place an order. To get an ordering code, download, unzip, and run the compatibility-test Python program below on the host computer you plan to use. A Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 is a good choice, if you might want to use my Pi-camera software to photograph nodulated roots. You will need to download and run additional Python software to use the PI, anyway, so if you can’t figure out this step, this would be a good time to switch to another instrument vendor.
3D-printer File for attachment
Download this file and 3D print it — I printed for free at our public library — for a useful attachment. It connects to the PI via optical fibers, to measure transmittance of red light. You can use it to measure optical density of bacterial cultures or light transmittance of leaves, a rough and relative measure of leaf nitrogen content.
